The holiday season is a busy time for all of us, and it can be really stressful. Our jobs are usually more demanding, there’s lots of social events, shopping to do, a house to decorate, and family traditions to keep up with.
You want to get everything done, but you also want to be able to enjoy the season with your family and friends. To make memories, drink hot cocoa, go look at Christmas lights, bake cookies, dance and kiss under the mistletoe.
With a long list of to-do’s, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and super stressed. And as I’m sure you know, stress is actually pretty anti-productive. Rather than inspiring you to get things done quickly, being stressed about tasks undone just makes everything else harder.
Luckily, I found a way to help you feel more energized, focused, and grounded this holiday season, so you can get a lot more done in a merrier way.
If you find yourself dreading or procrastinating on your to-do list, try this:
Think about something you need to get done that’s making you feel stressed. A project at work, a messy house, your gift shopping list, your lofty crafting plans.
Notice how you feel when you think about it… Anxious? Worried? Judgmental for not having it done?
Now this is going to sound silly, but…
Pretend it’s already done. I know. Just stick with me here.
Imagine yourself finishing your to-do with finesse, calmness, and efficiency. Imagine yourself checking it off your to-do list. Feeling the sense of accomplishment, joy, relief, and any other positive emotions it will add to your life to have it complete.
Hold these positive feelings in your heart for a moment. And then let it spread to the rest of your body. Every cell. Take a few more deep breaths and drink it in. Feel gratitude in your heart for having it complete.
Now, how do you feel? Motivated? Positive? Like you can actually get it done, and maybe it will even be fun?
This exercise does two things:
1. Catapults you through resistance
By pretending you’ve already accomplished your tasks, you can preemptively tap into the energy high you get when you actually complete something.
These positive emotions help you tackle the project with more confidence, energy, and a positive outlook, which in turn helps you get it done faster, better, and more merrily along the way.
2. Puts the universe on your side.
Energetically pulling your desires into your heart, backing them up with positive emotions, and feeling gratitude as if you already have them, are very powerful manifesting tools.
Our emotions, whether positive or negative, tell the universe we want more of what we’re reacting to. So by backing up your desire with positive emotions and gratitude, you’re telling the universe what you want, so it can put external factors on your side.
So try it and let me know how it works for ya!
Stressed is the last thing we should be during the holiday season. It can be such a magical time if you make it that way.
Please let me know if this tool was helpful in reducing your stress over things undone. And please share it with others so they might make more snow angels this season too.
Wishing you hearths full of happy memories.
